Under Van Gogh's Stars
by Liza Moore
I sat in your room last night,
again, thinking of you,
your body,
lying on top of the water
floating to music -
the kind where you laugh
and my face turns toward you
with a smile
knowing the pain has left.
When, suddenly,
you let out a gasp,
your eyes fixed on the sky,
dark and dancing with Van Gogh’s Stars.
And the madness,
like a weight drowning,
lit from your body
into the cypress tree above,
its branches alive
and burning
blues and yellows
into the night.
